Sambra Oilor
The Oas depression is a region inhabited by the descendants of the free Dacians, people that have never been subdued. They say that even the communist authorities didn't manage to nationalize their fields, so they continued to work their lands and stubbornly kept their traditions.
The ancient Sambra Oilor, a shepherds' celebration also known as Ruptul Sterpelor, is similar to the measurement of the milk, being thus a popular festival that takes place in many traditional villages.
As usual, the beautiful traditional dress (the sheepskin jackets/cojoc, the fluffy woolen overcoats/guba), the dance and the music cannot miss. Also, the tasty sweet cheese and the Maramures horinca - a plum brandy - are present.
